Portales Arenacross

Lane at PortalesLane had an awesome weekend at Portales.  It was a lot of fun and he brought home a 1st place in the 65cc 10-11 class.  He came out of the gate great and led the pack the whole race.  In the 65 cc open, he ended up with a 2nd place finish.  In the 85cc class, he took 4th.  He is looking better on his 85 every time and this weekend he really did well.  After being off of the track with a broken collar bone for 5 weeks, it is taking some time to get back up to speed but seat time is what Dad and Coach Cody have in mind to get him back up to speed.  Lane says, “I want to hit some local races before my next out of town race….maybe Moto City because I can build my confidence at that track since I have been there a lot.  I haven’t been there in a while and I want to race some of my friends.”  Next up for Lane is the Oklahoma State Series Awards Banquet in Shawnee on August 30, 2009.

A special thanks to Cody Elkins and Josh Bray the support this weekend at Portales.  You guys are great!

Clovis Arenacross Update

Lane Arenacross Clovis
Lane did great this weekend at Clovis. We were expecting an indoor race but it turned out to be outdoors in the rodeo arena which was fine because the weather was perfect. The heat races went well and Lane was able to qualify for the main in all three of his classes. In the 65cc 10 -11, Lane pulled the holeshot and stayed in the lead the entire race. Lane says, “It felt good to be the first one out there and to be the leader. After 5 weeks of being out with a broken collarbone, I was just so happy to be on the track. Finishing in first place felt awesome!” In the 85cc class, Lane ended up with a 7th place finish and in the 65cc open, a 3rd place finish. “I am going to be on the track this week with my Dad…going over some things and preparing for next weekend at Portales. I’m going to be working on my timing and corners” says Lane, “and this weekend at Portales, my coach, Cody Elkins is going to be there doing the freestyle show….I can’t wait.”

My Coach

Me and Cody

This is a picture of me with my coach, Cody.  He has taught me a lot of stuff this year and he is a lot of fun too.  Thanks Cody!
